Triton is an expedition-style megayacht built by Delta Marine for a couple who loved adventure and sea exploration. When it was finished in 2004, this was one of the largest yachts that had been manufactured from fiber glass in the US. In 2010, however, some legal matters went wrong and it all ended up with a foreclosure and sale order. We won’t bore you with the details.
As a result, the beautiful megayacht will soon be offered at auction (April 26) and it will be sold “as is, where is” to the most generous bidder of all. The vessel is currently located in San Diego. Measuring 163 feet in length, the yacht was designed by Delta Design Group of Delta Marine, and it was equipped with an impressive list of amenities.
The people who commissioned it wanted a reliable yacht that would do excellently in various weather conditions, and which could take them around the world without difficulty. This resulted in a technologically advanced vessel with twin 1,000-hp Caterpillar diesel engines that ensure a range of 6,100 miles at 12 knots. Even the tenders’ launch and retrieval system is special, permitting launching even while the yacht is under power.
Noteworthy amenities also include a crow’s nest accessible via elevator, a helipad, mahogany paneling in all spaces, skylounge with easy indoor-outdoor transition, accommodations for 14 guests plus 10 crew members, a galley/country kitchen, and many more.

The Land Yacht is a new concept by Airstream, the renowned American builder of streamlined, lightweight and fuel efficient trailers for travel enthusiasts. It is a unique vehicle that combines the best features of every Airstream trailer with the luxury amenities of fine ocean crafts. While the exterior keeps the company’s signature silver bullet look, the interiors ooze a sophistication specific to plush yachts.
The project was born from a collaboration of the trailer manufacturer with Tecnoform S.p.A. and Officinia Italiana Design. The smart use of space allows for enough sleeping facilities for up to 5 people. Amenities include a large bedroom in the front, a social space with galley in the rear, and a bathroom. The powered bed lift controls access to a hidden storage space, while the wardrobe provides plenty of space for travel clothing.
Air conditioning, flat screen TVs, teak flooring, power awnings, LED lighting features, and Corian counter surfaces are all part of the deal. Apparently the project has already got a lot of fans worldwide, and even though production will only start in July, orders have been coming in from as far as China. The luxurious Land Yacht will set you back $140,000, but the price can get higher if you opt for various extras as well.

In celebration of the 2013 Wörthersee Tour, Audi has released an enhanced concept version of its TT model. The newAudi TT Ultra Quattro concept is much lighter than the stock car, thanks to an extensive use of carbon fiber and other weight-saving tricks.
By swapping some old detachable body components with new carbon reinforced plastic ones, Audi managed to shed off 95 lbs. Carbon fiber was also used for many of the interior trims, while the original seats were changed with R8 GT borrowed ones, with CFRP frames.
The result is a concept with 220 less pounds than the production version. This combined with 310 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque results in excellent performance figures: a top speed of 173 mph and a 0-60 mph time of only 4.2 seconds.

Created as a tribute to the new and amazing LaFerrari supercar, this amazing looking watch from Hublot is a true stunner in all respects. Aside from its awesome design, the new MP-05 LaFerrari watch boasts a series of technical features that will impress all connoisseurs.
This here is the world’s first hand-wound tourbillon wristwatch to boast a power reserve of 50 days! It was designed, developed and manufactured entirely by Hublot’s watchmakers and engineers, and it flaunts the highest number of watchmaking components ever used by the fabled Swiss enterprise for one movement – 637, of which 108 are jewels.
A total of eleven series-coupled barrels make up what seems to be the timepiece’s spinal column, and they work together to ensure its the record power reserve. They can be admired thorough a uniquely shaped sapphire crystal which was obviously inspired by the dynamic design of the LaFerrari. The crown is integrated into the design of the case so that it doesn’t stand out.
On the right side of the barrels the time is displayed on anodized black aluminum cylinders (one for the hours, one for the minutes). The left side was kept for the power reserve cylinder. The case is made of black PVD titanium, just like the folding buckle, while the strap is black rubber. Only 50 numbered units will ever be produced, at a price of $300,000 each.

Watch enthusiast have been anxiously expecting to see what Rolex would bring to the table at Baselworld 2013 on the occasion of Daytona’s 50th anniversary. They probably expected a brand new model, but the luxury watch manufacturer decided to do a little something else. Rolex has unveiled two fresh versions of older models: a GMT-Master II and a Platinum Daytona, both with new color variations.
The Daytona keeps its original 40mm dimension, but brings a new light blue dial and a brown cerachrom bezel. The color combination is classy and quite alluring, but more changes would have been very welcomed as well. Inside the case is a COSC automatic chronograph movement, calibre 4130, with a power reserve of 72 hours.
Also still 40mm in diameter, the new GMT-Master II is powered by a Rolex Calibre 3186. It features a two color cerachrom bezel insert with a day/night configuration. The colors are blue and black, as you can see in the photos below.

Specially created for the Netherlands, the 2013 Porsche Boxster S RED 7 is a very limited edition version of the new generation Boxster. Its name is pretty clear on its most important features: the fact that it boasts an intense red color which gives it a powerful visual appeal, and the fact that it will only be produced in 7 examples.
The Indian Red exterior goes excellently with the contrasting Platinum trunk lid and front hood, both with a matte finish. The lower stance of the car is ensured by a new sports suspension. A sports exhaust system is also part of the deal. Finally, the interior of the ride is black leather with Guard Red trims to keep with the theme. The door sill plates are illuminated, and the audio system is singed by Bose. The Sport Chrono package and the Porsche Communication Management system are also part of the deal.
With a price that starts at €119,935, the car is fitted with 3.4-liter flat-six engine with 315 HP and 265 lb-ft of torque. The gearbox is a seven-speed PDK one, which helps the car reach the 62 mph threshold in 5 seconds. Every unit is sold with a bespoke leather key case, a car cover, and even a coffee table book about it.

Harley-Davidson has recently introduced a new stunner for their fans. It is called the 2013 Softail Breakout, and it merges all the best qualities of power, comfort, technology and design. It was developed to enchant freedom seekers, flaunting big wheels, a proud stance, and smashing looks. The chromed elements are meant to turn heads with their sleek shine, while the painted parts give extra personality to the bike.
Boasting the same level of detail that Harley-Davidson has accustomed us with, the new motorcycle features aTwin Cam 103™engine that is more than technologically impressive: it is also a true pleasure to look at. Shiny chrome surfaces contrast beautifully with glossy black trims in a beautiful interplay of light and shadow. Everything from the covers and cases to the classic cooling fins has been carefully designed to work excellently and look great as well.
In terms of advanced technologies, the motorcycle manufacturer has some more nice things to show. Take for instance the 3-in-1 minimalist bullet lights at the rear. They work as taillights, turn and stop lights as well. Then there is the anti-lock braking system, which gives the rider a feeling of extra safety each time he or she starts the engine. Furthermore, the ABS is tastefully hidden in the wheel hub, thus not disrupting the looks of the bike.
And finally, the new Softail Breakout comes with a new security system that includes a hands-free fob, which works by automatically locking and unlocking the bike as the owner leaves or approaches it. All they have to do is put it on the ignition key ring and then enjoy the freedom. Prices start at $17,899.

Liking what you see but curious how much it costs? Well, Chevrolet is finally here with some price announcements regarding the new Corvette Stingray and its Convertible sibling. Before giving you the exact numbers (enjoying the suspense?) we should tell you that even though specifications have been significantly improved, the prices haven’t soared in a spectacular manner. More specifically, the new coupe is just $1,400 pricier, while the convertible version is $2,395 more expensive than the previous generation.
And now for the actual prices: the Stingray Convertible has a base price of $56,995, and the Stingray Coupe has a MSRP of $51,995. These are, however, only the starting points, as more options will mean more money, and they could up the cost to as much as $20,000. A lot, we know, but even so, the Stingray is reportedly more affordable than rival luxury sports coupes (such as the Nissan GT-R and the Porsche 911).
So what will the base version bring to the table? Apparently plenty of cool stuff. The convertible will get a removable roof panel made of carbon fiber, and a smart key fob that enables the driver to lower the roof from a distance. The coupe will flaunt HID headlight with LED running lights, a seven-speed manual transmission, and a cool Bose audio system. While the standard version is not at all a bad choice, we believe many of the available options will prove too tempting for most buyersto resist.

Rolls-Royce is apparently working on a discreet facelift for its oh-so-popular Ghost model. It’s not that the automaker feel threatened by some other luxury car brand, because Rolls-Royce kind of operates in a league of its own. However, an upgrade every now and then is always welcomed.
So here are a few spy shots of what seems to be the new Ghost, with a few Wraith-inspired features. The car was quite successfully camouflaged, making it difficult to spot the changes.
A closer inspection, though, will reveal what appear to be LED turning signals and LED running lights as part of the restyled headlights. The rear fascia doesn’t show any apparent exhaust outlets, and the door mirrors seem to have received some design modifications as well. Obviously, nobody can tell at this stage if the car will be powered by the same engine as the Wraith. Patience is a virtue, they say…

DC Design plans on opening its fourth manufacturing facility in India, with a capacity of 3,500 cars. Dilip Chhabria, the founder of the company, told the Economic Times of India that the new plant will be erected in Sanand, Gujarat, India, with production is expected to start in 2014. It will reportedly roll out 2,500Avantis, and maybe a new SUV that the manufacturer intends to launch next year. Also scheduled for production are 1,000 units of the already existing DC models.
About the Avanti sports car, even though some have been referring to it as a supercar, its specifications don’t really make it fully worthy of that designation. However, DC has a very special way of making the car extra appealing: the company will only create 4,000 examples of its every model, and then move on to a new one. Powered by a265 horsepower2.0-liter FordEcoBoost engine, we believe that the Avanti is worthy of a special place in a diehard car collector’s garage.

The world of luxury auctions is witnessing a new trend; classical older yachts on the auction block for sale. Though cars, jewelry, whiskeys, wines, and memorabilia typically were the favorites, but the collectors seem equally interested about luxurious yachts from the yester years. Joining their league is the world’s last operational steam-powered superyacht, S.S. Delphine going under the hammer with a price tag of $50 million. Magnum office in it’s size and passenger experience, this is known to be the last vessel floating, powered with a steam based engine. It can carry 36 guests at any point of time, while hosting a gathering of 150, and also 24 crew members. So, those interested about luxurious ‘floating’ history, could certainly look this one to shell their money on it.

When the name Bugatti Veyron comes up, the word speed automatically comes as a recall to it’s most endearing feature. The fastest car in the world seems to be very speed thrill seeker dream, and it is for this reason that the vehicle gets it’s popularity. However, there are only a few who actually manage to get hold of one of these, as most are special editions with design tweaks on the original offering, with a heftier price tag than the normal. Now to please another elite bunch, the company has showcased their next creation, the 8 special edition Veyron world record versions of the car at Shanghai Motor Show 2013. With the speed factor being the main focus, the Grand Sport World Record edition has been known to touch speeds of 408.8 kmph, which makes it the fastest road legal convertible in the world.

Aston Martin fans have been kept busy with the new V8 Vantage SP10 introduced earlier this year, but it seems the older vintage models will be more desirable than the most recent creations in the market. Some precious vintage editions which gained much spotlight earlier this year include the 1960 Aston Martin DB4GT Bertone Jet sale which was a one-off creation, and the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 model, one of cinematic history;s most famous vehicles. Another one-off exclusive edition of Aston Martin goes under the hammer, with the 1956 DB 2/4 MKII looking to find a new owner at the upcoming RM Auctions & Sotheby’s event, which many are dubbing as the most significant vintage car auction in Manhattan in over a decade. Created in 1956, this coupe Aston Martin was purchased at the original price of $15,000 by Richard Cowell, and is now expected to bring in anything between $1.5million and $2million.

Subaru has unveiled its new WRX concept in New York and even though official information is scarce, the design features of the ride are suggestive of pretty cool performance and power figures as well. Low, wide and menacing looking, this sedan says a lot only by its looks.
First of all, you can’t overlook the hood scoop and the power bulge that pushes outwards and makes room for the new engine with turbocharger and intercooler. Then your eyes will definitely linger on the carbon fiber-only roof, a detail which reduces weight and also helps lower the car’s center of gravity – an essential thing at high speeds.
The sculpted air intakes in the new front fascia suggest a powerful engine that needs a lot of ventilation. They also play an important role in generating downforce. Clear indicators of muscle and speed can be seen at the rear as well: quad tailpipes and a new curved trunk lid spoiler.
The four blistered wheel arches indicate that an all-wheel-drive configuration will ensure excellent traction, and we like that detail too. Another feature that you might like is the new set of 245-section Dunlop tires wrapped around 20-inch BBS wheels. For more visual enjoyment check out the gallery below.

When you want a tuned Ford Mustang, the first specialist that comes to mind is almost certainly Shelby American. However, Mustangs are not the only rides that can benefit from the fabled tuner’s expertise. Its most recent and very spectacular project is a totally awesome Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
It’s always exciting to discover upgrade packages that were developed for already very powerful and fun rides, so we are very thrilled to share this news with you. The original 411 HP have been upped to 575 HP with the addition of a new Borla exhaust system and a supercharger for the stock 6.2-liter V8 engine.
The exterior hasn’t seen modified too much, as the tuners decided to only add a couple of their logos in a few key places. Also part of the slight exterior changes are the new custom wheels with 35-inch tires. The package alone will cost you $17,995, but if you also want the stock Raptor you need to pay at least $43,630 more.

Golf star Bubba Watson came up with a very neat idea of improving the golf carting experience. Golf carts have been pretty much the same for a very long time, and what they offer is a slow ride and a lot of movement limitations due to the fact that they affect the turf as they roll over it.
But what if golfers could enjoy a little extra fun as they move across the course? What if no obstacle was too much and their carts could just go wherever they wanted, including over water? Thanks to Watson’s excellent idea, this is now very possible.
He contacted Neoteric Hovercraft Inc. and proposed them an interesting collaboration. The result was an exciting hovering golf cart called BW1. The Indiana-based company is specialized in manufacturing hovercrafts for personal and professional purposes, so they immediately accepted the challenge. The BW1 rides on a bubble of air and leaves no print on the turf. It can take golfers over the green without any restrictions, and it can even go across bodies of water. Who doesn’t want that?

The new proud owner of the Fastest Production Car title is the superb Hennessey Venom GT. On February 9, 2013, the car underwent a series of tests in California, on the airport runway of a U.S. military base. The most important achievement on that runway was the record speed of 265.7 mph. We know, Bugatti fans will immediately protest, reminding us that the Veyron Super Sport boasts an official max speed of 267.8 mph.
Yes, that’s true, but keep in mind that the vehicle that secured this record was not the final production version supercar, which means that its speed was not electronically limited. The rides that made it into the buyers’ garages could only reach 257.87mph, which leaves enough room for the new Venom GT to become the new record holder. And the Guinness Book of World Records confirms this.
Based on the Lotus Elise/Exige model, the record breaker is powered by a 7.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine capable of a whopping 1,262 HP. Its makers even believe that a longer track could actually prove that the Venom GT is even faster than 267.8 mph. Only 29 units will enter production, each bearing a heavy price tag of $1.2 million.

Monstered up, this stunning 2014 Ford Mustang RTR is a menacing looking and extremely lightweight Formula Drift candidate for 2013, successfully upgraded by Vaughn Gittin Jr. Weighing only 2,900 lbs, the ride puts out 845 HP, promising impressive performance as well.
The remarkably low weight was achieved by using carbon fiber for the entire body kit, and by fitting the car with 18-inch alloy wheels. The exterior boasts a Monster Energy theme, and the design was reportedly inspired by WWI dazzle-camouflage battleships.
The Mustang is equipped with a four-speed dog-box transmission, custom clutch, 5-inch Magnaflow racing muffler, six-point Takata harness and Recaro seats. The builders were Autosport Dynamics, who are confident that the racer will make a great impression in Long Beach, California, at the 2013 Formula Drift inaugural race.

The Middle East is a place where appearances are a little bit more important than in other areas of the world, and this amazing police car is an excellent proof of that. It is not every day that we see Lamborghini Aventadors on the street, but it is even more uncommon to see them bear the police emblem and lights.
For Dubai, however, having a luxury supercar in the police fleet is not that big a deal. After all, they also have several other stunners like a few new Chevy Camaros. Even though it makes sense to use the 700 HP Aventador in police chases, the car will apparently only be used as a display vehicle intended to impress tourists. Glam police patrols actually sound very Dubai to us.
And let’s not forget that this is a prohibitively expensive supercar (around $400,000), so crushing it in a chasing that went bad is not exactly an option.

It’s a successor’s job to be better and more impressive than the previous generations. Consequently, the new BMW X6 is going to show some pretty nice features when it makes its debut at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show. Expect to see a more aggressive vehicle with a more imposing stance, higher quality interior materials, top-notch technologies, and better fuel efficiency.
The automaker’s aim is to accentuate the distinction between the more practical models in the X line (like the X3 and the X5) and the X6, which has a sportier character. The massive car will be built on the X5 platform, but a few modifications will be made to it to ensure extra legroom for the rear passengers.
Official information on the second generation X6 is scarce, but it is very likely for it to feature V6 diesel and petrol units, V8 petrol units, and even a plug-in hybrid engine that combines petrol with electric energy, and which is scheduled for launch in 2015. The new generation X6 will be available for purchase sometime in Q3, 2014.

The FAB1 Million Project is a bold initiative to raise £1 million to help fight breast cancer. Chris Evans, the head of the project, contacted Rolls Royce and made them a very interesting offer: to create a bespoke luxury car that would help this charity action. Jolyon Nash, Sales and Marketing Director at RR was thrilled by the idea, and after “countless hours” of hard work, this magnificent Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase was born.
Sporting the ‘FAB 1’ writing on the treadplates, and the pink ribbon emblem embroidered on the headrests, this luxury cruiser is a real work of art. A superb Crème Light interior with Blushing Pink accents is meant to provide memorable rides to all those who step inside. Being an extended wheelbase model, the car provides generous legroom to the rear passengers, but the luxe experience doesn’t stop at this.
The FAB 1 Ghost boasts a champagne coolbox, 9.2 inch LCD screens, hand veneered picnic tables, 600 Watts surround sound with 16 speakers and 10-channel amplifier, lambswool footmats, and other exquisite touches of excellence. The car will help raise money for the breast cancer care by being available to hire over the next year, starting this month. Actually, the official launch of the project is today (April 18).

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept crossover will make its debut tomorrow at the Shanghai Motor Show in China. Today, however, we have a few high-quality photos to share with you, showing bits of the classy car’s exterior and interior. For a better and more detailed look you will have to wait until tomorrow, when it will officially make its first appearance on stage.
Even though it is based on the A-class wheelbase, the premium crossover is longer, wider and taller than the hatch. Its overall look is more rugged as well with 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45 R20 tires, protection plates under bumpers, wheel arch moldings, roof rails and other styling elements that are typical for crossovers.
Powering the concept is the A250 engine, which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four petrol one capable of 208 HP. The gearbox is a 7-speed dual-clutch 7G-DCT that sends power to the car’s all four wheels. This, of course, is only what the concept features, but the production version will most certainly come with extra motorization options.
With a toned down design, the production GLA will appear on the market in the first half of 2014, after having made its official debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Porsche has been making news in the recent past for the Panamera Turbo tourer model, including the Panamera Platinum edition which is stated to be launched later this year. To keep the enthusiasm going strong among the eco-conscious buyers, they have bought in their first plug-in hybrid edition of the supercar, the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid. The special ‘electric and fuel’ drivetrain based on the 2014 Porsche series, there have been some significant technology changes, with the greater engine power output, and the ability to carry on for more than 20 miles in case, the fuel gauge is empty. With a charging port for just 2.5 hours, one can get the additional eco-friendly advantage added along with the luxuries that the Panamera will otherwise be sporting.
The S-Hybrid edition of the Porsche Panamera, has been fitted with 95HP motor, which is the double of the last hybrid creation from Porsche. The Lithium-ion battery which runs the engine, increases its storage capacity by a significant margin from 1.7 KWH to 9.4 KWH. It can charge real quick within 2 and 1/2 hours from a 240-Volt charger. Experiments have revealed that one could go on for over 20 miles on an all-electric drive, but then the add-ons features like the air-conditioning and heating would have to be turned down.
With the hybrid engine never the less, the capabilities still pack in a significant punch in terms of the speed capabilities. If one is using the all-electric drive, top speed is around 84mph, where as the fuel powered mode will take the car upto 167mph that too within 5.2 seconds.
The pricing figures released so far peg the value of the SE Hybrid Panamera to be $99,975. However since there have been other editions of the Panamera 4 released in the market, there are other models to choose from a varied price range. The Panamera 4S begins from $99,275+ charges, to the $162,075 for the new model of the Panamera Turbo Executive, which sports the extra long wheelbase apart from the added interior features.

The competition seems to be raging wild in the electric car segment. To set the bar of capabilities for the category of electric cars even higher, the Detroit electric SP:01 is set to compete with Tesla Roadster, to become the fastest production electric vehicle currently available. The emission-free car has been fitted with a 150 Kw engine, which can take the traveling speed from 0 to 100 kmph within just 3.7 seconds, and the top speed pegged at 249 kmph. Also, with a single charge, one can cover a distance of 290 kms at a stretch. The SP:01 also carries a limited edition production run of 999 units, with a price tag of $135,000 for each unit.
To speed up a 4-wheeler to such speeds with an electrical engine, isn’t short of anything of a total genius. To ensure that the numbers match up, the body of the SP:01 has been crafted out of the same carbon fiber grade seen in F1 racing cars. The major benefit has been the 2,354-lb body weight, making the car agile for its dimensions. However, the framework on which the body chassis has been set, has been crafted with high grade aluminum which gives the necessary stability to the chassis. Also, there has been plenty of work on the new performance tuned suspension, steering, and braking systems, which aide proper handling of the SP:01.
The electric motor fitted in engine of the race car, is come fitted with batteries which take 4.3 hours for a single full recharge. It has a capacity of 37 Kwh, and generates an output power of 201 BHP, enabling to build up a top speed of 249 kmph, and take just 3.7 seconds to travel from 0 to 100 kmph. The innovation which takes the SP:01 to the levels of any racing super car, is the electromagnetic field which builds around the rotor-shaft thus pushing the wheel to travel at various levels of speed. There is the option for drivers to try the varied selection of gearing ratios, which will help them drive optimally under different surfaces and conditions, without having to change gears very frequently.

The makers of the new Koenigsegg Agera R are very confident about their creation and for good reasons too, we have to say. Other stunners, such as the new McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, will reportedly be a little intimidated by the ride’s superiority in terms of weight, power and speed.
Apparently the all new Agera R can put out 1,140 HP and boasts a staggering 273 mph maximum speed. The mid-mounted engine is a 5.0-liter V8 unit that can push the car to 200 mph in only 17.68 seconds. With an impressively low weight of only 3,163 lbs., this baby was definitely built to amaze. At its official unveiling in Geneva, the guys at Koenigsegg were not afraid to say that they were pretty sure the Agera R would be faster than the PaganiHuayra on the test track at Top Gear.

Not exactly sure if Lamborghini is the first luxury car brand to come to mind when saying “limousine”. Actually, it may be among the last ones on your mental list. However, this article is exactly about that: a stunning Lamborghini Aventador Limousine concept. The car keeps all it original visual charm, but adds a few inches to the recipe, and a couple of extra doors as well.
The mere fact that the concept is so shocking and totally unexpected makes us sure that there are many rich people out there who would love to see the car get onto the production lines. We bet there are plenty celebrities who are a bit tired of the same Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lincoln and other classic limos that they’ve had driving them to important events. A red, angular and powerful Lambo would actually make an excellent alternative, wouldn’t it?
Four scissor doors rise up to welcome passengers into an absolutely amazing environment: plush comfy seating, champagne cooler, plasma screens, top-of-the-line sound system, and much more. Though we’re sure not everybody will find the idea exciting, we declare ourselves very positively intrigued. The concept idea was proposed by high-end car hire company Cars For Stars from U.K.

Ambition can generate great things. The guys behind the all new SRT Viper TA (Time Attack) can tell you exactly how much of a difference a hurt pride can make. After the SRT Viper GTS lost to the Corvette ZR1 on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca tack, the specialists at SRT started to work harder on a brand new Viper that would compensate for the previous loss of over 2 seconds.
So here is what the new TA boasts as improvements. First of all, a lot of carbon fiber and other weight reducing improvements made their way onto the new car. Even the iconic badges were swapped with virtually weightless stickers. Also part of the package were the new larger Brembo brakes, better wheels, and a two-mode suspension system with not Street setting! The driver can only choose between the Rough and Smooth modes.
Motor Trend, the same car guru that had organized the race between the GTS and the ZR1, was beyond impressed with the new TA. Apparently they have never driven a faster Viper than this one, and they were happy to say that the level of improvement it boasted was remarkable. We can’t wait to see what Chevrolet will have to say about all this.

Shelby American will very soon launch their new 1000 Shelby S/C. Packing a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 engine, the car can put out a staggering 1,200 HP! The model that was used as a base for this stunner was the Ford Shelby GT500, which received a new exhaust system, an upgraded 6-speed manual gearbox, improved brakes, and a new set of wheels.
The tuning package will only be manufactured for 100 GT500s, and its price will not include that of the base car. The upgrades alone will set you back $154,000, and if you don’t already own a stock GT500, you will have to shell out an additional $54,600 for it. This may be a little too much for most people, but diehard car lovers know why this is an investment worth making – the thrill of owning and driving such a powerful beast is absolutely priceless.

British startup company Lyonheart Cars, has just stepped into the arena of creating bespoken convertible coupes and convertibles that will have every auto enthusiast jumping in their seats. Recreating a lot of the similar designing ethics of the Jaguar E-type, these custom made vehicles borrow a lot from under the hood of the Jaguar model, but not without their unique touches and styling changes. A perfectly apt gift for a custom car collector, one has to wait for getting the cars delivered to them as Lyonheart is looking to make around 250 of these annually, at a $466,000 price tag for the coupe and $485,000 for the convertible model.

Though the 1950’s will be known for producing automobile’s history greatest editions from Ferrari, but the Italian brand Maserati managed to grab considerable eye balls as well. In 2009, Fantasy Junction had auctioned a 1953 Maserati A6GCS for a price tag of $1.95 million. Now Bonham’s will undertake the auction of a 1955 Maserati 300S, which belonged to the famed American car collector, Briggs Swift Cunningham at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. One of the most sought after vehicles from the Italian luxury auto brand, famed World Champion driver Sir Stirling Moss quoted about the 300S, saying “…one of my favorite front-engined sports Maseratis – one of the easiest, nicest, best-balanced sports-racing cars ever made…”.

For exploring the calmer waters of the earth, the kayak is one of the best friends at hand. Pushing the limits of craftsmanship in its range of exquisite vessels, the McLellan Jacobs Kayak 1 is set to take the lead as the world’s most expensive kayak. Carbon fiber body with timber and gold plating on the edges, this kayak weighs just 40-lbs but has all the style and technical features which will set it on the holiday shopping list of the uber-rich buyers.
Conceived and created by the New Zealand duo of Jamie McLellan and Andy Jacobs, this kayak uses the same grade of carbon fiber as the one picked up by American Cup boat builders. This has made the body sturdy and lightweight, making it easy to handle in the waters. For the world class finishing, they have applied Durepox HP Clear primer and DuPoint Chroma clear for top coat. Buyers could even order a variety of colors and textures, which would also vary with paint is actually used on the kayak.

Shedding 800-lbs of body weight, a V6 engine, and a 3rd of seats at the rear end, the 2014 Range Rover has bought in some different sets of addition, though not changing the outer form too radically. There were speculations that the Evoque or the bigger models of theRange Rover would overshadow this edition as well, for its features but the latest revelations show that the vehicle is something people would be delighted with. Prices of the 2014 Range Rover Sport differ for the 4 editions within the range of $63,495 and $93,295.
Like the 2013 edition, this edition also has shed 800-lbs of the body weight due to the all-aluminum structure, apart from added variety of more powerful engines. The new V6 engine will dish out 340 HP, while the V-8 dishes 510 HP of muscle on the asphalt. They both come with the 8-speed auto transmissions, apart from physical changes such as the 7-inch longer wheelbase, 2 options for the 4-wheel drive mechanism, auto engine shut off at long stops, and also the Auto-park feature which allows judicious parking in tight city traffic.

For those who collect earth’s pre-historic memorabilia, the era when the dinosaurs survived hold a special meaning. It was then, that a large species of animals existed, which later became extinct due to various natural reasons. Nicolas Cage is one such personality who is known to have a wide collection of such pre-historic artifacts, and its not just him that spends premium cash to own these things. This year, a giant egg from an extinct elephant bird will go under the hammer (not literally!) during a Christie’s event. The estimated value of this rare egg is $45,000, but with the craze among the niche natural history collectors, the barrier could go further.

The 2014 LaFerrari has been debuted at the Geneva Auto Show, and it truly is every bit the Italian prancing horse’s marvel. Though the price tag hasn’t been revealed, but the latest supercar from Ferrari will be made in a limited production run of just 499 pieces in all. Considering that, the prices can be predicted to rise rather high and very rightly take a place in the list of most expensive Ferraris, but for the true die-hard fan, it never really mattered as we notice. Also, what generates a considerable amount of interest currently is the name, which according to Luca di Montezemolo has been kept keeping in mind, that this Ferrari happens to be the maximum expression of what Ferrari is known for; excellence.
A car like the LaFerrari would be mainly is known for what it has stored under the hood. This time is a massive 963 HP, V-12 monster which will power this supercar to travel at over 350 km/ph of top speed. For going from 0-100 km/ph, one would need less than 3 seconds. This makes it by far, the fastest road car created by the Italian car maker. But despite being as heavy and power thrusted, the engine gives out only 330 h/km of CO2, which puts it among the best in terms of CO2 norms.
Other than the engine, there are specimens of high grade engineering like the Sistema Frenata Anti Bloccaggio Prestazionale / Electronic Brake Balance. This new addition means that there are carbon-ceramic material (CCM) discs alongside light weight calipers which help keep the heat down by the correct cooling of the braking system. The suspension system is double wishbones for the front wheels and multilink for the rear.

British designer Afzal Kahn of A. Kahn Design have turned his car obsession into something which is majorly sought after by the wealthy luxury car buyers. He has previously given high end styling makeovers to luxury cars. This time it is the turn of the Lamborghini Aventador, which has turned into a simplistic yet a sportier edition of its original existence. While the exterior has seen a few changes, but the major additions as one will notice, has been on the interiors, which has been give the premium treatment, at least considering the premium quality leather fabrication.
The interior are actually a showcase of the British designing house with the color black, which has been generously splattered all over the place. The seats are crafted from black nappa leather with contrasting white stitching, the most artistic edition of which is seen on the steering wheel with the Lamborghini monogram at the centre. However, word has it that one can choose the color and fabrication too, but this combo of black and white is known to be Kahn’s signature one.
This edition reportedly costed $4.7 million, which perhaps tells us that if one has the money, the ways of spending them rather lavishly outnumber them far and wide.

The obsession for exclusivity via various personal renderings even with high end vehicles, seem to be a continuing trend worldwide, which is showing no signs of slowing down anytime. After buying a high end brand, the richer car geeks customize their vehicle as per their whims and fancies. Now Hamann is the next label which has put up its Chrome Pink edition of the luxury SUV at 2013 Geneva Auto Show.
For those who have a fetish for the color pink, and that too with a mirror finish to bring in a glitzy appearance, the ‘Mystere’ edition seems like a must have. The body kit is a carbon composite 4-part set, which has managed to add around 80mm to the overall width of the luxury SUV. The paintjob has indeed been a premier highlight of the Mystere, which adds lots of bling with the pink shade, thus adding a mirror effect and a very ‘barbie doll’ like feel to the overall aesthetics.
Hamann has managed to load a decent bit of machinery under the hood as well. Mystere Range Rover will be sporting a 5.0-litre V8 engine. To ensure that the vehicle runs just as smooth, while also serving the purpose of an overbearing presence, there are 23-inch Continental modified wheels. However, the additions have also ensured that the chassis has lowered a bit closer to the ground by 40mm, thus compromising on ground clearance.

The 2013 Geneva Auto Show is proving to be another hotbed for technology and automobile geeks, where the bigger guys are putting up quite a show to outdo each other. If owning a Ferrari wasn’t just good enough; now the Ferrari FF will sport iPad integration feature in its setup. The 2013 edition of the supercar will also feature the additional benefit of having Siri eyes free integration while taking a ride in the backseat of the vehicle. The iPads will be fixed into the front seat headrests, where users can surf and control all their multimedia content via Apple’s ‘Siri’ programme, thus making the already thrilling ride in a Ferrari a step more tech friendly.
This setup wasn’t completed in a day. The chief of Apple’s software and services group Eddie Cue led a crucial role in ensuring that the new Ferrari FF sports this additional feature. Last year when Luca di Mentezemolo and Tim Cook sat down for doing something together, their mission was clear and something of this sort was always on the cards, which finally has manifested itself in the form of this upgrade in the Ferrari FF. And if the word is to be believed, this isn’t the end of it. We are still in the earlier half of 2013, and official statements say that Apple and Ferrari will be working on a large number of products together.

Luxury Auto brands like Lamborghini couldn’t be just satisfied with making the best of powerful cars like the $3.9M most expensive Lamborghini Veneno that commemorates the 50th anniversary of Automobili Lamborghini. They had inkling that their brand should grow wider, and evolve as a lifestyle statement unto itself hence the idea of high-end bicycles. We have previously seen the Limited edition BMC Lamborghini cycle, which retailed for $26,000. This time around, the price tag gets higher and the 50th anniversary Lamborghini Impec goes to its buyers for $32,000. Like most things precious by luxury brands, created for a special occasion, this bicycle is also a limited edition product with a made-to-order availability. Also, the uber-rich who are looking to splash around some cash are advised to order their Impec bikes soon, as there are only 50 editions of them to be made, each delivered by the respective dealers.

Sports car collectors now stands a rare chance to grab Jaguar’s one of the fastest road car presented in immaculate condition throughout and having just one owner from new over the last 19 years, the 1994 Jaguar XJ220 at Historics at Brooklands’ classic and collector car auction on Saturday, March 9. And the fact that this visceral motorcar is one of just 11 lefthand drive XJ220 cars finished in Daytona Black, and comes with an original Jaguar Sport build record sheet and the Howard Davies-signed thank-you letter from Project XJ220 Ltd., which makes it ever more rarer and sought-after. However, the interested bidders for this 1994 Jaguar XJ220 with odometer reading of just 16,798, should also note that if this car which is now in France is to be imported permanently into Britain then vat will be applicable and charged at 20% of the auctioned/hammer price. Besides, we have also seen the sale of some classic Jaguars, including the first XK120, the first D-type which fetched a record million dollar price on auction, and the rare Jaguar C-Type replica based on original 1953 version which was expected to sell for over $200,000.

Facilitating access to innovative, contemporary and offbeat watchmaking, while reflecting a new approach for the top Swiss luxury watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome, here’s an exceptional horological creation that offers an ultra-new way of reading time. Dubbed as Spacecraft, it’s described to be RJ-Romain Jerome’s first-ever pilot’s watch which actually stems from the joint endeavors of Eric Giroud, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, and Manuel Emch, and impressively features a complication with its own discreet charm, combined with a pure, restrained design. This 99-piece limited edition timepiece with a rectilinear profile boasting retro-futuristic aesthetics has been especially designed to delight the devotees of ultra-complicated watches with horological complexities and original products, and for the space pilots of the world to carry them off on an intergalactic mission to explore uncharted territories. However, the timekeeper Spacecraft reminds us of the Parmigiani Bugatti Vitesse timepiece whose dial is displayed at a 90° angle.
Notably, the three top names in the watchmaking industry including Manuel Emch, Eric Giroud, and Jean-Marc Wiederrecht pooled their idea and creativity to give rise to Spacecraft that impressively combines retro-futuristic aesthetics and horological complexity.
The Spacecraft is an unusual trapeze-shaped model featuring a black PVD-coated titanium case, while its rectilinear profile and its facetted surface echo the aesthetic of spacecraft.
Fitted with a black polyamide mesh strap, the Spacecraft conceals a complex movement that features a kind of spring-driven carriage that drives the hour display visible on the watch’s side by means of red-lacquered cursor moving beneath the metallised sapphire crystal every 60 minutes. And the dragging minutes, appearing on a black disc, are read off on the top of the case that also features beadblasted titanium plates.

Limited edition Bentleys are the best! The automaker’s latest extremely exclusive creation is the beautiful 2013 GTC V8 Beverly Hills Limited Edition Bentley Continental, which boasts a bright and very eye-catching body color called Celeste Pearlescent. The hue is inspired by the luxe Tiffany & Co. color, which makes it extremely appealing to connoisseurs.
The car was manufactured in only 3 examples (one coupe and two convertibles) for Bentley Beverly Hills. The dealer selling them is O’Gara Coach, the fabled luxury car dealership where Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Bentley always feel at home. Priced at $224,215 each, the cars come with many exclusive features, but no change in the engine department. They are still powered by a 500-hp 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
So here is what the buyers will get with their exquisite Beverly Hills edition Bentleys: personalized Beverly Hills limited edition treadplate plaques, dual tone 3-spoke hide-trimmed steering wheel, neck warmers, massage seat & seat ventilation for the front seats, power boot opening and closing, rear view camera, space-saving spare wheel, and of course the Celeste Pearlescent paintjob. There are also some options available for these babies, such as Piano Black Veneer, Light Grey Roof Interior, Black Roof exterior, and Home Link System.
As a final touch, Bentley gave the cars new CEC C881 wheels in either liquid silver or mate black finish. They measure 22 inches in diameter and are wrapped with Continental Extreme Contact ultra-high performance tires that are excellent for all seasons.

Designed with very real, very modern and very useful applications in mind, here’s a cleverly engineered workhorse dubbed as Xhibitionist, a nautical tool that will fulfill many different roles of a luxury yacht. Partly inspired by traditions as old as seafaring itself, this no ordinary yacht concept is actually the brainchild of noted Swedish-based designer Eduard Gray of Gray Design, which earlier impressed us with their Superyacht Sovereign that has taken its design cues from luxury limousines, theDartz Prombron Nagel which is the world’s first sportback vehicle to act as a yacht puller, and the Standcraft limousine beach cruiser which had the designing mastery of Gray Designs. Described as a masterful blend of style, purpose and efficiency, this one-of-a-kind vessel’s hull is its most striking element, as the inverted triman configuration has been employed for one overriding reason that is stability. Further, this versatile concept superyacht boasting an Art-Nouveau styling has also been future-proofed in some aspects; both in terms of its actual features and its potential ‘lives’, as it were.

This means that the beautiful luxury car can complete the 0-62 mph sprint in only 5.3 seconds before reaching the 184 mph top speed. The price has not be revealed yet, but no Bentley has ever been cheap.

Inspired by the ever fascinating night’s sky, the Rendez-Vous Celestial timepiece is one of the newest creations of Jaeger-LeCoultre. The luxury watchmaker used high-end materials and precious stones to create this jewel-like watch, and for the powering mechanism it chose the famous Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 809 mechanical automatic movement.

Vintage Ferrari cars have always been the preferred investment car for collectors and vintage car enthusiasts. Over the years, we have seen the most expensive classic cars sold at auctions, which have Ferraris at the helm, with a1963 Ferrari 250 GTO sold for $32 million to the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa sold for $16.39 million, and the apple green 1962 Ferrari GTO especially made for the Britain’s iconic racing driver Stirling Moss which recently got sold for whopping $35 million to become the world’s most expensive car. However, it’s been interesting to note that Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss’s association with Ferrari truly adds a significant value to it. And it becomes apparent from the recent sale of iconic Ferrari 250 GT SWB raced to victory three times in 1960 by Stirling Moss for $11 million, to become the most expensive British car sold in auction, after the single-seater supercharged 1929 ‘Blower’ Bentley got sold for $7.8 million, achieving the highest price for British car sold at a public auction.

Excellence V is a beautiful luxury yacht by Abeking & Rasmussen, an elegant vessel that was launched in the spring of 2011. Its classy design was conceived by the owner himself, who worked together with Reymond Langton Design, a design firm from London. Even though it measures 60 meters (almost 197 feet) in length, Excellence V is able to offer flawless accommodation in spaces that are comparable in size to that of much larger yachts.
Almost all guest accommodation areas are located on the main deck: the VIP suite, 2 doubles and 2 twins. They are all situated fore, and are arranged in a perfect manner in order to make the best possible use of space. The master suite can be found on the upper deck, with an adjacent double suite. In all, there is plenty of space onboard for up to 14 guests, plus the crew team.
A beautiful staircase connects the five different decks of the vessel, but there is also an elevator in the central lobby, meant to ensure an effortless transition from on level to another. The main lounge and dining areas are located aft, featuring comfortable furniture and tasteful decorations. Adjacent to the lounge area with bar is the exterior lounge space with two L-shaped sofas for total comfort.
The yacht also features a cinema, massage room, starboard side beach club, tender access and launching, diving and swimming platform, huge Jacuzzi, and a number of relaxing, entertaining and dining areas both outside and inside.

The SIHH 2013 has ended, but its long lasting impact still lingers on. Here is another one of the many outstanding timepieces unveiled at this year’s event. Called Excalibur Quatuor, the watch proudly bears the signature of Roger Dubois.
The main feature of the watch is its capability to immediately compensate for any rate variations determined by changes in position. For this to happen, Dubois fitted the timepiece with 4 escapements that work in pairs for an irreproachable performance. The manually wound Roger Dubois Caliber RD101 movement boasts 590 parts, 5 differentials, 4 balance wheels, a power reserve of 40 hours, and an impressive 115,200 beats per hour.
The 48 mm case is made of pink gold, and the movement is coated with rhodium. The stunning dial features an anthracite interior flange, pink gold appliqués, white minute track, and a power reserve subdial. The most visually impressive detail is the 45-degree positioning of the 4 escapements, one at every quadrant of the watch. Only 88 pieces will ever be manufactured, priced at about $384,000 each.

Curators of the finest historical design the world has to offer, the growing and innovative luxury home furnishing brand Restoration Hardware which has earlier impressed us with the sculptural table composed of 50 individual disks of plywood called the Stack 50 table, and the Timothy Oulton’s Aviator Chair that draws inspiration from bomber planes, has now come up with Aviator Wing Desk inspired by streamlined World War II fighter planes. Described to be a shining swoop of metal, the desk’s shape impressively mimics the bent wing of a plane. Poised as if for take-off, the $2,195 desk has been hand-built of patchworked panels of polished aluminum, built over solid hardwood frame, and is further accented with exposed steel screws. However, the desk isn’t complete without the Devon Spitfire leather chair that has also been inspired by WW II planes, and impressively recalls the sleek modernity of aviation’s Golden Age.

In the history of Hollywood, only a few celebrities have ever amassed a car, motorcycle and airplane collection as impressive as that of Steve McQueen who was not only Hollywood’s highest paid actor, but he was also a truly talented two or four wheels racing driver on sand, road, track and everything in between. Be it the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta which was auctioned for $2.3 million, the 1970 Porsche 911S sold for $1.375 million, and the iconic 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage that got sold for whopping $11 million; McQueen’s cars are not only legendary and highly valuable, but have also been extensively written about. And like McQueen’s earlier cars, a highly reliable and classy 1951 Chevrolet Styleline DeLuxe Convetible Coupe owned and driven by Steve McQueen frequently in the final movie of his illustrious career ‘The Hunter’ in 1980 is now expected to fetch huge prices at the auction block. A this pale yellow Chevy which was also included in the 2007 book ‘McQueen Machines: The Cars and Bikes of Hollywood Icon’ by Matt Stone is now being offered for grabs by RM Auctions’ on March 22-24 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

“Pebble Beach is the most beautiful meeting of land and sea in the world,” Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry Karges said Thursday. The car show and race likewise bring out “the most beautifully designed and built cars in the automotive world.” While Pebble Beach usually plays host to golfers, once a year every August it is taken over by classic cars which are perched precariously on the perfectly manicured green lawns far above the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean far below.
The Concours d’Elegance is the crown jewel of over a week of auctions, races and parties all over the Monterey Peninsula. The Councours and Monterey Car Week have become their own annual ecosystem in the classic car world as high value and rare vehicles cycle through private collections and auctions. “A lot of people that get to come out as a spectator, and you get to see some of this at our auction, you get to see them [classic cars] more from collection to collection,” Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. chairman and CEO Craig Jackson said Monday.
For many, the Concours d’Elegance and Auto Week are their only opportunity to some ultra-rare vehicles. Several years ago, Pebble Beach succeeded in gathering all six Bugatti Royales, the only time in history they have all been in one place. “It’s a real feat. I don’t think you’ll ever see that again.”
Collectors bring their cars to the Concours each year to win several coveted class and overall awards which boost the prestige, and value, of their cars. “You can count on your hands the number of collectors who have these [Concours d’Elegance winners] in their collections,” Jackson said. However, many of the cars passed through restoration houses like Barrett-Jackson and the auction houses before winding up in private collections and on show at Pebble Beach. “I get to see these cars at Pebble Beach … I’ll remember the car from the ’60s,” Jackson said.
The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has been occurring annually since 1950 and the combination of ultra-rare and classic cars, racing and an incomparable automotive social scene have drawn attendees back year after year. An annual party, Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival, at the Monterey Jet Center brings out many of the leading collectors for what Jay Leno has called “tailgating for billionaires,” according to Karges.
“If you didn’t have any other eason to go to Monterey, wouldn’t you want one?” Karges said. The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, races and parties prove to be too much for many wealthy collectors to avoid given the plethora of hotels, lodges and gourmet restaurants that dot the peninsula. “It’s a pilgrimage, literally,” Karges said. Both Karges and Jackson have been attending the Concours d’Elegance for decades.

The 2013 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and accompanying festivities of the Monterey Car Week and The Quail motorsports gathering concluded Sunday after drawing the finest classic cars, ultra-luxury models and most distinctive vehicles in the world to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula of California. According to some, the events of the Monterey Car Week have been called “tailgating for America’s billionaires” by none other than the nation’s pre-eminent gearhead, Jay Leno, but it has taken years of hard work and a heady mix of automotive iron and stunning Pacific Ocean vistas to keep the world’s wealthy car collectors coming back each year.
At this year’s Concours d’Elegance, RM Auctions put 120 cars on the block, 13 of which sold for more than $1 million, fetching a total of $35 million, including a 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder that sold for $8,580,000. At another Monterey area car auction over the weekend, Gooding & Company sold more than $60 million worth of cars, including another Ferrari, a 1960 250 GT LWB California Spider for $11,275,000. Gooding & Company also sold a first edition Fiat 500 (initially valued at around $35,000) owned by Leno for $385,000, and the legendary von Krieger Special Roadster for $11.77 million.
The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is the centerpiece of a series of classic car races and auctions, cocktail parties and gatherings for enthusiasts, car shows, and debuts by the world’s most rarified luxury brands like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz. Rolls-Royce for its part debuted two different vehicles, the 2013 Ghost and the Phantom Coupe Aviator, Cadillac teased a new concept car, and Bentley held the North American debut of the 2013 Continental GT Speed. The Concours d’Elegance and other events of the Monterey Car Week draw such high-value classic cars and luxury debuts every year by means of a very simple formula of strong personalities, an impressive environment and the momentum that years of tradition brings.
More to come…

The famous Ford GT40 that made motorsport history on June 15, 1969, will be the centerpiece of the 18th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance’s celebration of the Ford GT40’s 50th anniversary on March 10, 2013.
The Ford GT40 made its Le Mans racing debut June 21, 1964. But it took Ford two years to achieve victory at the world’s most famous endurance race. On June 18, 1966, Ford’s huge investment paid off with a three-car sweep of the race that mattered most to company chief Henry Ford II.
Le Mans 1966 was also revenge for the grandson of the Ford Corp.’s founder. Ford had tried to buy Ferrari in 1962. Ferrari spurned Ford’s third-generation leader at the last moment and Ford commanded a cost-no-object program to defeat Ferrari where it mattered most, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
There is no public accounting of how much it cost Ford to accomplish the feat, but the records established by Ford’s potent GT40 are well documented. Through three iterations, the Ford GT40 won Le Mans four times in succession: 1966 through 1969.
The most famous GT40 of all made further history on June 15, 1969, when chassis No. 1075, driven by Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans a second straight time in less than one year.
This unprecedented motorsport record has its roots in the vagaries of French election law. Voting is mandatory in France and elections were called for Le Mans’ traditional summer date. This compelled the race’s organizing body to postpone the summer endurance classic until September 1968. That sidelined the GT40’s lead racer, Ickx, who had broken his leg during the Canadian Grand Prix one week before Le Mans’ postponed date. The Ford GT40 Ickx had raced to victory at Brands Hatch, Spa and Watkins Glen was entrusted to countryman Lucien Bianchi—who was driving for the injured Brian Redman—and Mexico’s Pedro Rodriguez. That pair won Le Mans in the Ford GT40 that Ickx would soon affectionately call “my car.” As a bonus, the 1968 Le Mans victory also clinched the 1968 International Championship of Makes for Ford.
By 1969, the experts had consigned the 6-year-old Ford GT40 design to spear carrier roles. Then in March, Ickx and Oliver won the punishing 12 Hours of Sebring with the ’68 Le Mans-winning 1075.
The Anglo-Belgian pair teamed for Le Mans again in June, and that race has passed into the legend and lore of international sports car racing. The victory by Ickx and Oliver in 1075 was the closest finish in Le Mans’ long and colorful history: a matter of just 70 yards separated the winning GT40 and the second-place Porsche after 24 hours. The victorious GT40 was almost out of gas and the driver of the Porsche, Hans Herrmann, thought his brakes were fading. For the final two hours, the pair ground around the high-speed 8.369-mile French road circuit, often at more than 200 mph, laying plans for the final lap.
The new Porsche 908 and the aging Ford GT40, 1075, that had won Le Mans just nine months earlier, were locked in a game of high-speed, high-stakes Le Mans-chess. The Porsche was faster on the long Mulsanne straight, but the Ford was quicker from the Mulsanne hairpin back to the starting line. The pair arrived at the finish line just 15 seconds before 2 p.m., the race’s appointed finishing hour. Both would have to make another agonizing yet fast and perfect lap. As the other cars were flagged off the track at 2 p.m., only the battling lead duo remained on the course, adding to the drama and tension of that last long lap.
In America, ABC television was making its first live broadcast of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Amelia Concours founder and chairman Bill Warner remembers the final lap as Wide World of Sports‘ host Jim McKay and three-time Le Mans winner and world driving champion Phil Hill made the call of the finish. “Seeing Le Mans live for the first time on American television was amazing. By the time they got to Arnage on the last lap, it was obvious that the GT40 was going to win. At the flag, the GT40 and the Porsche were less than two seconds apart.
“Having the first of only three cars to win Le Mans twice on the Amelia Concours field is a thrill for me,” said Warner. “I remember photographing these cars at Sebring and Daytona in 1969 when 1075 won the 12 Hours, and recall thinking what a great Anglo/American effort it was.”
On March 10, 2013, Ford GT40 1075 and its Gulf racing stalemates GT40 1076 (that finished third at Le Mans in ’69 driven by David Hobbs and Mike Hailwood) and 1074 will be reunited on the fairways of The Golf Club at Summer Beach in the 18th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Ford GT40.

Vilner tuning specialists have already proven their undeniable skills and expertise when it comes to upgrading car interiors, but this is not the only field in which they excel. Exterior and performance enhancements are also their passion, and this is true even for two wheelers.
Take for instance this gorgeous one-off bike and its amazing package – beautiful girl not included. The canvas that Vilner worked on was an Aprilia Tuono motorcycle, and the completed work of art was dubbed Stingray. The upgrade package includes a reupholstered seat, a repositioned license number, new front fender, extended driving chain and fork, new side spoilers, each with two vents, new headlights, and LED turning signals.
The motorcycle was also improved in terms of performance, resulting in 10% better results. To match the more fierce character of the Aprilia Tuono Stingray, Vilner decided to make it a little darker by tinting the rear lights and blackening out a few parts of the frame. You can see the final look of the ride in the gallery below.

With an impressive track record of using historically significant vehicles to raise funds for worthy causes, it wasn’t just the General Motors who offered its very first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction in Arizona for charity, but also the world’s largest automaker’s Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson who offered his personal 1958 Chevrolet Corvette to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. After crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson’s auction, the Corvette C7 got sold for $1.05 million to Nascar team owner and avid Corvette collector Rick Hendrick, and the Akerson’s hardtop convertible Regal Turquoise’ 1958 Chevy Corvette with dual headlamps, hood louvers, and twin chrome trunk spears garnered $270,000. Notably, all the proceeds from the sale will go to the Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization to which Mr. Akerson together with his wife Karin has already donated more than a million.
