Restoration Hardware’s Aviator Wing Desk is inspired by streamlined WW II fighter planes

Curators of the finest historical design the world has to offer, the growing and innovative luxury home furnishing brand Restoration Hardware which has earlier impressed us with the sculptural table composed of 50 individual disks of plywood called the Stack 50 table, and the Timothy Oulton’s Aviator Chair that draws inspiration from bomber planes, has now come up with Aviator Wing Desk inspired by streamlined World War II fighter planes. Described to be a shining swoop of metal, the desk’s shape impressively mimics the bent wing of a plane. Poised as if for take-off, the $2,195 desk has been hand-built of patchworked panels of polished aluminum, built over solid hardwood frame, and is further accented with exposed steel screws. However, the desk isn’t complete without the Devon Spitfire leather chair that has also been inspired by WW II planes, and impressively recalls the sleek modernity of aviation’s Golden Age.
